In Kyiv, a case has been sent to court regarding a 38-year-old local resident suspected of stealing a significant amount of money from a 68-year-old pensioner. According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2025, the victim contacted the police after losing his mobile phone and later noticed a significant sum missing from his bank card.

Details of the crime: how the perpetrator acted

During operational measures, law enforcement established that the perpetrator found the mobile phone near a grocery store. By using the lost device, he managed to guess the passwords to the applications that allowed him to conduct financial transactions. The perpetrator transferred money from the pensioner’s account several times, ultimately stealing over 52 thousand hryvnias, which he immediately spent on personal needs.

During a search, law enforcement officers seized the phone that belonged to the victim from the suspect.
