Kyiv residents advocate for the preservation of the city’s aesthetic

Residents of Kyiv have registered a petition demanding that the city authorities implement administrative responsibility for posting advertisements in inappropriate locations.

Essence of the initiative and proposed changes

The petition is posted on the official Kyiv City Council website and proposes a fine of 850 hryvnias for individuals who leave their phone numbers in such advertisements, as well as for those who order or initiate the placement of such advertising in unauthorized locations.

According to the authors of the initiative, unscrupulous citizens, in an attempt to save money, post advertisements on poles, entrance doors, building walls, and other unsuitable objects. This not only worsens the appearance of the city but also leads to additional time and resource expenditures for municipal services, which are forced to remove such advertisements.

“Some unaware citizens, in order to save money, stick their advertisements on poles, entrance doors, building walls, and other unsuitable places, which affects the aesthetic appearance of the city and requires additional costs and time for municipal services to eliminate such advertisements.”

Additional proposals for monitoring violations

In addition to financial sanctions, the initiators propose creating a chatbot or a separate section in the “Kyiv Digital” application. According to the activists’ plan, this will allow Kyiv residents to send photos of violations along with the phone numbers listed on illegal advertisements for prompt response from the responsible services.

Through this initiative, the city’s residents aim not only to restore order in the capital but also to engage more conscientious citizens in the fight against unauthorized advertising.
