Scope of the Campaign and Obtaining Permits

Recently, over 1300 residents of Kyiv have approached police departments to declare their firearms. Citizens have officially registered 1346 units of firearms and nearly 430,000 rounds of ammunition. All applicants received the necessary permits within a few hours, granting them the right to legally possess their weapons.

The campaign for declaring weapons by civilian citizens, conducted by the police, provides an opportunity for people who possess firearms or ammunition without permission or have found them, to declare them and obtain the right to legal ownership

Declaration Procedure and Required Documents

The declaration algorithm is greatly simplified: first, one must report the existing or found weapon to the National Police hotline 102 or contact the police at their place of residence. Next, they should arrive at the nearest police station to carry out the declaration procedure. If necessary, permit service employees can come to the declarant’s residence.

To complete the declaration procedure, it is sufficient to provide a passport, a photo, and an identification code. Thanks to this simplified approach, anyone interested can legalize their weapons in a short time.
