Kyiv Residents Remove Anti-Parking Bollards for Road Safety

Кияни самовільно демонтують важливі елементи дорожньої інфраструктури

In Kyiv, instances of unauthorized removal of anti-parking bollards, which are installed by city services to manage parking and ensure safety on sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, continue to be recorded. This has become a serious issue for the city’s infrastructure, as these elements are crucial for preventing unauthorized vehicle access to pedestrian areas.

This is reported by Kyiv24

According to the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), over 3,415 anti-parking bollards have already been installed in the capital. However, experts note that this year alone, 1,578 cases of damage or theft of these elements have been reported.

“This year, 3,415 of these bollards have already been installed in the capital… Municipal service specialists are recording numerous instances of unauthorized removal of the installed bollards. In total, 1,578 cases of damage and theft of anti-parking bollards have been documented to date”

The Importance of Anti-Parking Bollards for Safety

As explained by the KCSA, these elements of road infrastructure significantly enhance traffic safety and protect pedestrians, especially individuals with disabilities, parents with strollers, and the elderly. The refusal to utilize them jeopardizes the safety of pedestrian zones and complicates the enforcement of parking regulations, which can lead to additional risks of traffic accidents.
