Criminals disguise themselves as representatives of the tax service

Scammers have become active in the capital, posing as officials of the State Tax Service and sending fake electronic and paper letters to entrepreneurs. These messages contain requests or demands to transfer funds, allegedly for purchasing equipment for the needs of the army. The criminals forge the signatures of officials and use fake seals of the institution to give the letters an official appearance.

Tax officials particularly note that scammers may use an email address that closely resembles the official email of the State Tax Service in Kyiv – kyiv.official@tax.gov.ua. For feedback, the fraudsters provide a phone number: +380682794667 (WhatsApp, Viber).

A call for caution and action in case of suspicious letters

“Officials of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Kyiv operate solely within the framework of the law and have no relation to such letters.”

The State Tax Service emphasizes that scammers may use various phone numbers, bank accounts, and cards to receive money. Genuine employees of the tax service do not make such requests and act only in accordance with current legislation.

The Main Directorate urges taxpayers to be vigilant, not to fall for provocations, and to immediately inform the relevant units of the National Police in case of receiving suspicious letters.
