In Kyiv, the largest state flag of Ukraine will be taken down from the flagpole for one day. This is due to scheduled technical work that requires maintenance of the flagpole at the Memorial Complex “National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.”

Reasons for Taking Down the Flag and Duration of Work

According to the municipal association “Kyivzelenbud,” today, June 3, the flag will be temporarily removed for ongoing technical work. Specialists will install additional ropes to secure the flag on the flagpole. All work is planned to be completed by June 4, after which the flag will once again fly over the city.

“Today, June 3, the main flag of Ukraine, installed at the Memorial Complex ‘National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War,’ will be taken down,” the statement reads.

The unique flagpole, which holds the largest flag in the country, is located on the Pechersk Hills in Kyiv. Its height is nearly 90 meters, and the weight of the structure is 32 tons. The dimensions of the flag itself are impressive: 16 by 24 meters.

After the technical work is completed, the flag will be returned to its place, and it will once again adorn the panorama of the capital.
