Residents’ Proposal for a New Park Name

Residents of the Troieshchyna district are initiating the renaming of the park located between Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue, Shukhevych Avenue, and Balzac Street to the Guardians of the Sky Park. A corresponding electronic petition has already appeared on the official Kyiv City Council portal.

According to the petition’s author, this park is a modern space for active recreation, sports, family leisure, and connection with nature. However, it currently does not have an official name.

“We are addressing the initiative to name the park ‘Guardians of the Sky Park.’ This name is intended to honor the heroic deeds of the servicemen who defend Ukraine’s airspace daily, protecting civilians from missile and drone attacks. Thanks to their efforts, Kyiv remains a place where millions can live, work, and raise children, despite the continuous attempts of the enemy to disrupt the peaceful order of our state,” the petition states.

The Park as a Symbol of Gratitude and Resilience

The appeal emphasizes that the protection of the capital’s airspace is a collective effort of thousands of military personnel from various units and civilians who assist in identifying aerial threats. The initiative’s authors believe that the new name will embody gratitude for all those who defend Kyiv from missile and drone attacks, as well as serve as a symbol of resilience and remembrance for the fallen defenders.

The petition highlights that renaming the park will make it not only a place for recreation but also an important symbol of protection and unity for the city’s residents.
