In the capital, the police detained a young car wash employee who stole a client’s vehicle and caused a traffic accident.

Details of the Incident at the Car Wash
According to law enforcement, a 24-year-old resident of Kyiv reported to the police about the theft of his BMW. The young man had left his vehicle at the car wash for servicing, but the next day he learned about an accident involving his car.
The police quickly established that an 18-year-old employee of the service station was involved in the illegal appropriation of the vehicle. The young man, having the client’s keys, decided to use them and drove the stolen BMW around the city at night.
The Accident and Consequences for the Offender
While driving on Naberezhno-Luhova Street, the young driver lost control and crashed into a lamp post. As a result of the accident, the young man was unharmed, but the vehicle sustained significant damage.
During a sobriety check, the police found that the driver had 0.98 promille of alcohol in his blood, as confirmed by the Dräger device.
“The offender has been detained. He has been charged with illegal appropriation of a vehicle. The penalty for this offense can be up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The damaged vehicle has been seized.”
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway, and the damaged vehicle has been seized for examination.
