Serious Conflict in Kyiv Bar Arises from Dispute Over a Girl

In the Pechersk district of the capital, a man initiated a shooting and vandalized a bar following an argument that stemmed from his “advances” towards a girl from another group. According to investigators, the aggressive behavior was triggered by an attempt to approach a stranger who was out with another man.

According to the police, the conflict began in a private establishment where visitors from two groups initially engaged in a verbal exchange that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. One of the men drew a weapon and began shooting at his opponent, causing chaos in the bar. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the shooting.

“A verbal exchange and shoving occurred between the visitors from two different groups over a girl. Subsequently, one of the participants drew a weapon and fired several chaotic shots at his opponent, causing disorder,” the police stated, noting that, fortunately, there were no casualties from the shooting.

Law Enforcement Detained the Offender and Seized the Weapon

Officers from the Pechersk Police Department, in collaboration with specialists from the Strategic Investigations Department, quickly identified the shooter and apprehended him. The offender turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of Kyiv. During a search of his residence, law enforcement seized a traumatic pistol and ammunition that were used during the incident.

The investigation classified the man’s actions under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism with the use of a weapon. For such actions, the offender faces up to seven years of imprisonment.
