Night Attack: Explosions and Air Defense Operations

On the night of June 1, the occupying forces of the Russian Federation launched a new massive attack on Kyiv and its surrounding areas, using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as strike drones. Residents of many districts in the capital reported explosions throughout the night. At 8:38 AM, the Kyiv City Military Administration noted that the kamikaze drone attack was ongoing, and air defense forces continued to work to protect the city.

Consequences of the Shelling and Government Response

According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, ten private houses were damaged in the Bila Tserkva district as a result of the night attack. Fortunately, there were no casualties among the population, and critical infrastructure facilities remained intact.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha posted a video of the air defense systems in action on social media platform X and commented on the situation:

“Listen to the sounds echoing over my house — and thousands of Ukrainian homes — this morning. The air defense is repelling Russian strikes. Since last night, Ukraine has been experiencing massive air attacks, with ballistic, cruise, and cluster missiles, as well as hundreds of drones targeting people across the country. While Russia claims to be preparing for meetings to discuss peace, in reality, it is attacking, terrorizing, and destroying,” he wrote.

The air defense forces continue to effectively work to protect the residents of the capital and the region, repelling most enemy strikes and minimizing the consequences of the attacks.
