Absence of Signals from Moscow Regarding Peace
According to the head of Germany’s defense ministry, despite numerous efforts from the United States, European countries, and Ukraine itself, there have been no signs from Moscow indicating a willingness to seek compromises or end the war. Pistorius emphasized that the Russian leadership shows no interest in a peaceful resolution of the situation.
“Despite the efforts of Americans, Europeans, and Ukrainians to achieve a ceasefire, there are no signals from Moscow that Putin is interested in ending the war,” said the German minister.
The Importance of International Negotiations in Berlin
At the same time, Pistorius highlighted the significance of the negotiations that took place in Berlin on December 15-16. He noted that these consultations regarding Ukraine’s future were crucial for consolidating the positions of European partners, the United States, and Ukraine. He also pointed out that German Chancellor Merz clearly outlined the right of Europeans to participate in negotiations about Ukraine’s future, and emphasized that coordinated actions between Europe, the United States, and Ukraine are essential for the further development of events.
