Residents of Solomyanka Call for the Construction of a New Overpass to Improve Connectivity

Мешканці Солом’янки виступають за будівництво нового шляхопроводу

Residents of the Solomyanka district in Kyiv are advocating for the construction of a new overpass that would connect the Vydradny district with Chokolivka. They believe that the existing routes are inconvenient and do not provide comfortable movement for residents, highlighting the need for new infrastructure solutions.

An electronic petition has been posted on the Kyiv City Council’s website, gathering support from citizens and urging the authorities to consider the possibility of building a new transportation artery. The authors of the initiative note that the modern railway line effectively divides the Solomyanka district in half, isolating its parts. In particular, the Vydradny microdistrict is separated from Chokolivka, and the only relatively convenient route remains the overpass at Karavaievy Dachas.

Limited Options of Existing Routes

Although there is also the Air Force Avenue with a bridge and an overpass at the end of Vydradny, they lead to areas where traffic is very intense during peak hours, complicating movement. This is why residents emphasize the importance of constructing a new bridge that would connect Vydradny with Chokolivka, optimizing transportation and reducing the load on existing routes.

Plans for the Construction of a New Crossing

According to the petition authors, the implementation of the project should facilitate the integration of administrative, residential, office, industrial, and recreational zones in the area. This would provide residents with a more comfortable and safe way to move between its parts. They propose to start the construction of a bridge over the railway tracks between Akademika Shalimova Street and Smilyanska Street, which would significantly alleviate traffic and improve the barrier-free environment of the district.

“The importance of constructing a new overpass between Vydradny and Chokolivka is determined by the need to connect all parts of the district to ease movement and reduce congestion”
