The historic panel once again adorns the space of the river station in Kyiv

In the capital, the restoration work on the mosaic, which had long been in a neglected state in the building of the Kyiv River Station, has been completed. From now on, visitors can once again admire the unique monumental art from the 1960s.
Restoration of Cultural Heritage
According to activists, just a few years ago, these mosaic panels were subject to destruction — they were painted over, damaged, and some elements were permanently lost. However, specialists managed not only to preserve but also to professionally restore works that hold significant value for Ukrainian culture and history.
Updated Space and New Life for the Mosaic
Today, the restored mosaics have become part of a modern space where American University Kyiv operates. They are now once again available for viewing by all visitors and maintain the atmosphere of the historic building.
“During the renovation of the Kyiv River Station building, the mosaic panels from the 1960s were preserved and restored — important works of Ukrainian monumental art… Today, these mosaics can be seen again — now in the updated space where American University Kyiv operates,” the statement reads.
The restoration of the mosaic has become an important step in preserving Kyiv’s cultural heritage, as these works exemplify the high craftsmanship of Ukrainian artists from the mid-20th century and symbolize the historical continuity of the city.
