Academic Calendar and Holidays
In the new academic year, several key periods are planned for students in the capital’s schools. The academic process is divided into two semesters. The first semester lasts from September 1 to December 24, 2025, and the second from January 12 to May 30, 2026. Immediately after the end of the second semester, on May 29, the traditional last bell ceremony will take place.
Students can look forward to autumn holidays from October 27 to November 2, 2025. Winter holidays will last from December 25, 2025, to January 11, 2026, and spring break is scheduled for March 23 to March 29, 2026. For the youngest students, first-graders, an additional break is provided: their special holidays will take place from February 16 to February 21, 2026.

In June 2026, compensatory classes and individual consultations for students are planned to be held in the capital’s schools.
The Department of Education of the Kyiv City State Administration advises taking into account the security situation and the psychological state of students. Schools have autonomy in planning their educational activities.
This year, the first school bell rang for 18,600 first-graders. In total, over 376,000 students, pupils, and trainees are enrolled in 979 educational institutions in Kyiv. Of these, more than 64,000 children attend preschool educational institutions, while 278,000 students receive education in schools.
