Autumn break for students in Kyiv: tentative dates and possible changes

The Kyiv City State Administration has provided recommendations to the capital’s educational institutions regarding the organization of autumn break in 2025. According to the advice from the Department of Education and Science of the KCSA, schools are advised to hold the autumn break from October 27 to November 2.
Possibility of changes in the academic schedule
At the same time, the administration emphasized that each educational institution has the right to independently determine the exact dates of the break, taking into account the specifics of their operations and the needs of the students. However, the total duration of breaks during the academic year should not be less than 30 calendar days.
“Given the unstable security situation due to the full-scale war, which may affect the organization of the educational process both in individual institutions and in the city as a whole, adjustments to the structure of the 2025/2026 academic year in general secondary education institutions may be made throughout the year,” the KCSA response states.
The academic year will last until the end of June
Additionally, the KCSA reminded that the academic year in general secondary education institutions in Kyiv will conclude on June 30, 2026. This decision will help ensure a full educational process even considering possible changes in the schedule due to security challenges.
