Sweden Announces 20th Military Aid Package to Ukraine Worth $836 Million

Зеленський подякував Швеції за 20-й пакет військової допомоги

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Swedish government on September 11 for the approval of the 20th military support package for Ukraine. According to the head of state, this step is not only a significant contribution to the security of Europe but also a testament to long-term solidarity.

“The new package and the commitment to provide long-term support represent a substantial contribution to the security of our continent. It is equally important to maintain momentum and implement all joint initiatives aimed at achieving guaranteed peace,” noted the head of the Ukrainian state.

Details of the New Aid Package

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson reported that the total cost of the new package will amount to $836 million. The aid will include, among other things, 18 modern Archer artillery systems. According to Jonsson, this continues a long-term support program that Stockholm will implement in 2026–2027, with an annual budget of $3.6 billion for military needs and $900 million for civilian support in 2026–2028.

The minister also emphasized that Swedish-Ukrainian cooperation will continue to create surprises for the Russian Federation’s army, and Sweden will keep pressing Russia until the complete cessation of aggression.

Support from the Swedish Government and Allies

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson confirmed in July 2025 that the country is not slowing down its support for Ukraine. He emphasized that Sweden, along with its NATO allies, remains one of the largest donors and is providing substantial and rapid deliveries to Ukraine.

In his view, the speed and cohesion of the international community are crucial for ending Russian aggression. The Prime Minister of Sweden stressed that the sooner allies unite to force Russia to stop the war, the more Ukrainian lives will be saved.

For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in July during a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte that NATO plans to procure modern weapons for Ukraine worth billions of dollars, including Patriot air defense systems.
