Consequences of the Attack: Civilian Casualties and Destruction
During the nighttime attack, significant damage to residential buildings was recorded in the capital. It is also known that two people were killed and 16 civilians were injured. The authorities in Kyiv reported destruction in several districts of the city.
“It was an especially horrific night in Kyiv, with brutal attacks from swarms of drones and missiles, including ballistic missiles,” he noted.
Call to Partners: Strengthen Sanctions Against Russia
Andrii Sybiga emphasized that the leadership of Russia is consciously rejecting diplomacy and peaceful initiatives, choosing the path of terror and war crimes. In this regard, he appealed to international partners to expedite the consideration of the US Senate bill and the 18th package of sanctions from the European Union. The minister stressed that it is necessary not only to observe Russia’s actions but also to take active measures to deprive the Russian military machine of funding.
The nighttime attack was not an isolated incident: Russian military forces regularly use strike drones, missiles, aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems to shell regions of Ukraine. Despite official denials from the Russian leadership regarding targeted strikes on civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these actions as war crimes aimed at the civilian population, hospitals, schools, energy, and water supply facilities.
