Main targets and consequences of the massive attack
According to the head of state, the primary target of this massive shelling was Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv regions were also under fire. Preliminary reports indicate that two people were killed in Kyiv, and another 16 were injured. The president expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
“The main target of the attack was Kyiv and the region, and the Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv regions were also hit. Unfortunately, there are reports of two fatalities in Kyiv. My condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. As of now, 16 injuries have been reported,” said the head of state, calling this an “obvious escalation of terror by Russia.”
Strengthening sanctions and international reaction
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the need to accelerate sanctions pressure on Russia and urged international partners to invest more actively in weapon production and the development of defense technologies. The president also stated that he plans to hold negotiations with partners regarding additional funding for the production of interceptor drones and the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine. According to the head of state, such strikes must be met with a strong response.
Russian troops continue to systematically attack Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons, including strike drones, missiles, aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems. Despite this, the Russian leadership denies targeting civilian infrastructure, even though residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and energy facilities are being hit.
The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these actions by the Russian Federation as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature.
