Preparation for the Restoration of the Historic Funicular
The municipal enterprise “Kyivpastrans” has announced a tender for conducting a visual and instrumental-technical inspection of the Kyiv funicular. This inspection is a necessary step before the large-scale restoration of this unique transport landmark of the capital.
According to company representatives, annual planned repairs maintain the uninterrupted operation of the funicular; however, to preserve its historical value and adapt it to modern standards, a complete restoration is required, which involves a detailed preliminary inspection.
Assessment of the Structure’s Condition and Future Plans
During the inspection, specialists will analyze the technical condition of the upper and lower stations, the retaining wall, the transformer substation, the tracks, and the engineering networks. Special equipment will allow for an accurate assessment of the condition of the funicular’s structural and engineering systems. This will serve as the basis for developing a restoration project that aims to preserve the historical appearance of the object while making it more comfortable for passengers.

The expected cost of the inspection services is 1,599,999.67 hryvnias. According to the tender conditions, all work must be completed by the beginning of next year.
