Трамп «не був задоволений, але й не був здивований» ударом РФ по Києву – речниця Білого дому

U.S. President Donald Trump was neither surprised nor pleased by the nighttime attack of the Russian Federation on Kyiv on August 28. This was reported by the president’s spokesperson Caroline Levitt during a briefing at the White House.

Official Position of the White House on the Attack on Kyiv

According to Levitt, both countries have been in a state of war for a long time. She emphasized that Russia struck Kyiv, and in response, Ukraine recently targeted Russian oil refineries, destroying about 20% of their capacities just in August. The spokesperson highlighted that the U.S. president seeks a swift end to the war to stop human losses.

“Perhaps both sides of this war are not ready to end it themselves. The president wants it to end, but the leaders of these two countries must also want it to end. And I think the president will make additional statements on this later.”

Several hours earlier, U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg also reacted to the strikes on Kyiv. He emphasized that the aim of the Russian attack was not military targets, but residential areas of the capital. Kellogg stressed that such attacks threaten the pursuit of peace that the American president seeks.

Consequences of the Attack and Reaction from the Ukrainian Side

According to the State Emergency Service, the nighttime attack on Kyiv resulted in 21 fatalities, with over 50 people injured. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, two oil refineries and a weapons depot in Russia were hit, with no reports of civilian casualties in Russia.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the consequences of the shelling were recorded at over 20 locations in the Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, and Desnianskyi districts of Kyiv. Particularly significant damage was inflicted on residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts, where a direct hit destroyed part of a five-story building.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of August 28, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with nearly 600 strike drones and 31 missiles. Hits from missiles and kamikaze drones were recorded at 13 locations, with debris from downed devices falling in another 26 places.

The Russian army systematically employs a wide range of weaponry, including strike drones, missiles, guided bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems to attack Ukrainian regions.

At the same time, Russian leadership denies that during the full-scale war, Russian troops are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities and villages, destroying residential buildings, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy facilities, and water supply systems.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify the attacks by Russia as war crimes and emphasize their intentional nature.
