Law enforcement officers have arrested two residents of Kyiv who were carrying out arson attacks on the homes of Ukrainian servicemen’s families at the request of the Russian Federation’s intelligence services.

Details of the arrest of the criminals
According to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, operatives received information about the involvement of two men in collaboration with Russian intelligence services. It has been established that the criminals received instructions via mobile applications and operated in several regions of the country.
The perpetrators of the sabotage turned out to be two Kyiv residents aged 23 and 33. They agreed to set fire to the homes where families of Ukrainian servicemen lived in exchange for monetary rewards. The crimes were recorded in Kyiv, as well as in the Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, and Poltava regions.

Circumstances of the arson and evidence of the crime
In one instance, in the Myrhorod district of Poltava region, the arson was carried out under direct instructions from a Russian handler. The criminals placed car tires under the selected houses in the morning and doused them with an incendiary mixture.
“During a search of the vehicle used by the arsonists, material evidence was found, and their mobile phones contained correspondence with a Russian agent.”
Operatives arrested the suspects at the crime scene. Material evidence was seized from the vehicle, and correspondence with a Russian Federation agent was also found on their mobile devices.
