The Polish Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, expressed the opinion that Ukrainian agricultural products could be just as competitive and cheaper if Ukrainian producers adhered to European Union standards. At a meeting of the EU Agricultural Ministers’ Council, he noted:
