Ukraine is in the final stages of preparing to deploy swarms of drones powered by artificial intelligence for use on the front lines. This was stated by the President’s advisor on strategic issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, during the GLOBSEC security conference in Prague on June 12.

Domestic Development Without Western Support
According to Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukrainian specialists have been working on the creation of innovative UAVs without technical assistance from Western partners. Despite repeated appeals to the USA and European countries, Ukraine has not received solutions that could be adapted to its own needs. Thus, the AI-powered drone project is a completely Ukrainian development.
“This is indeed our Ukrainian development. And there is good progress in this development at the moment. There is no active use on the front yet, but we are close to it,” said the President’s advisor.
Technological Competition Between Ukraine and Russia
Kamyshin also emphasized that Russia is actively developing similar technologies, receiving support from partner countries, including China, Iran, and North Korea. These states are making significant efforts to assist the Russian Federation in creating modern drone systems based on artificial intelligence.
It is known that China recently presented a new type of drone capable of launching swarms of drones that can operate autonomously, without operator involvement, thanks to AI algorithms. This opens up the possibility of mass coordinated attacks, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of drone use in combat operations.
Despite data from Ukrainian and Western intelligence about arms supplies, official Beijing continues to deny support for Russia in the military-technical sphere.
