According to information released by zn.ua citing Reuters, about a thousand troops from the British Armed Forces will participate in the parade, including cavalry and military bands. The military event will symbolize “global support for their relentless fight for freedom” in the face of Russia.
Significance of Ukrainian Military Participation in the Parade
In many countries, including the United Kingdom, France, and the United States, May 8 is commemorated as the day of Germany’s surrender in 1945. In London, a series of events are planned ahead of this anniversary, including a military parade and an air patrol. The culmination will be a service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, to which the royal family will be invited.
“In the midst of the first full-scale war in Europe since World War II, it is entirely appropriate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are currently fighting on the front lines of freedom, are represented at the event on Monday”
Defense Minister John Healey emphasized that the participation of Ukrainian servicemen in the parade highlights their role in the fight for freedom and democratic values.
