Key Meetings in Miami

Ukrainian representatives are expected to hold talks with the US President’s Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff, Jared Kushner, who is the son-in-law of Donald Trump, as well as US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll. The main topic of the meetings will be the discussion of the details of a possible peace agreement, as well as issues of security guarantees and economic assistance for Ukraine.

“We will have an important conversation with our American partners regarding the details of the peace agreement. A joint meeting is planned with (US President’s Special Envoy) Stephen Witkoff, (Donald Trump’s son-in-law) Jared Kushner, and (US Army Secretary) Daniel Driscoll. Ukraine needs a just peace. We are working towards a result,” wrote the head of the President’s Office of Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian Ambassador to the US, Olha Stefanishyna, security guarantees and economic support amounting to up to $800 billion, which may be secured during the forum in Davos, will also be discussed in Miami.

Context of the Negotiations and International Support

The delegation’s visit comes against the backdrop of a statement from US President Donald Trump, who emphasized that it is Ukraine, not Russia, that is delaying the process of concluding a potential peace agreement. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, a bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is almost ready for finalization at the highest level.

Recently, it has also become known that US Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner plan to visit Moscow. Earlier, on January 6, negotiations of the “Coalition of the Willing” took place in Paris regarding the conclusion of the Russian-Ukrainian war and guarantees for Ukraine, in which representatives of the US participated. After the meeting, the Paris Declaration was released, which provides for the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities with proposed support from the US.
