Foreign Ministry’s Statement on Woody Allen’s Position

In its official statement, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry highlighted that Allen’s participation in an event that unites supporters and propagandists of Putin’s regime is a conscious disregard for the crimes that Russia has been committing against Ukraine for eleven years. The Ministry called this a disgrace and an insult to all victims of Russian aggression among Ukrainian artists.

“This is a disgrace and an insult to the victims among Ukrainian actors and filmmakers who have been killed or injured by Russian war criminals during the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. By participating in a festival that brings together supporters and mouthpieces of Putin, Allen consciously turns a blind eye to the atrocities that Russia commits in Ukraine every day for the past 11 years.”
