The Office of the President of Ukraine expressed deep concern regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk in the USA, a well-known political activist and supporter of Donald Trump. The tragedy occurred during his public speech at the University of Utah when an unknown assailant in dark clothing opened fire from the roof of a neighboring building, fatally wounding 31-year-old Kirk in the neck. At the time of writing, a large-scale operation is underway in the USA to locate the attacker.

Response from the Office of the President of Ukraine
“I am shocked by the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk – a crime that happened shortly after the horrific incident involving Iryna Zarutska. Violence and terror must be strictly punished in a democracy, the core value of which is freedom in all its forms. I am confident that the United States will swiftly deliver justice and put evil in its place. Ukrainians, all Europeans, and the United States are united: freedom above all. Ukraine is currently fighting against Russia precisely for democracy and freedom, which must be stronger than authoritarianism and terror,” wrote Andriy Yermak, Head of the President’s Office, on September 11 on social media X, expressing “deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all who knew Charlie Kirk.”
Reactions from Politicians and Society
The murder of Charlie Kirk has sparked outrage in American politics. U.S. President Donald Trump and representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties have strongly condemned this crime. As a sign of mourning, flags on government buildings across the country are being flown at half-mast until the end of the week.
Charlie Kirk was the founder of the influential student conservative organization Turning Point USA and actively supported Donald Trump, especially during the 2024 election campaign. His speeches on college campuses in the USA traditionally attracted large audiences. On social media platform X, Kirk had over 5.2 million followers, hosted the popular podcast and radio show The Charlie Kirk Show, and recently co-hosted the morning program Fox & Friends on Fox News.
Kirk held a prominent position among conservative thought leaders in the USA who supported Trump. He often criticized mainstream media and actively commented on current issues related to race, gender, and immigration, frequently in a provocative style.
According to Reuters, since the attack by Trump supporters on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, over 300 politically motivated attacks have been recorded in the USA. In July 2024, Donald Trump himself was also injured during a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
