High-ranking foreign guests arrived in Kyiv for the official celebrations of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Festive events dedicated to the anniversary of the state’s independence took place in Sofiivska Square. Among the honored guests were U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as well as the defense ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Canada, and the UK’s Minister for Veterans.
Participation of International Guests in the Celebration
During the ceremonies, President Volodymyr Zelensky honored both military and civilian individuals who made significant contributions to the country’s development. Heroes of Ukraine, recipients of orders and honorary distinctions included journalists, volunteers, concentration camp prisoners, as well as military personnel. Some awards were presented posthumously.
Keith Kellogg was specifically recognized, receiving the Order of Merit of the First Class from Zelensky.
“I thank you and the president (Donald Trump – ed.) for your attention to Ukraine and for your support,” said Zelensky.
Recognition of Foreign Partners
During the ceremony, other representatives of foreign states were also awarded Ukrainian orders. Among them were the German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger, Donald Trump’s spiritual advisor Mark Burns, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson, and others. This reflects the close international cooperation and support for Ukraine from Western partners during a challenging time for the country.
