The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, owns a space in the very center of the capital — he possesses an apartment measuring 251.8 square meters, as well as a country house for recreation measuring 785.5 square meters, located in the village of Lyutizh in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region. However, as experts have discovered, the registered mayor of the capital does not reside in his own property, but in an apartment that belongs to his brother, Volodymyr Klitschko.
Right of Residence and Vehicles
“The head of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, has a 251.8 m² apartment in Kyiv and a 785.5 m² vacation home in the village of Lyutizh in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region. However, he is registered in his brother’s apartment and has the right of residence for 43.6 m²,” the report states.
The analytical report also notes that Vitali Klitschko has the right of residence for an area of 43.6 square meters in the aforementioned brother’s apartment. This has been a topic of discussion, as the mayor owns significant residential real estate but is formally registered at a different address.
In addition to real estate, experts also analyzed the vehicle fleet of the Kyiv mayor. Vitali Klitschko has a 2013 Land Rover Discovery 3.0 registered in his name. Two more Toyota Sequoia SUVs are leased by his brother Volodymyr, but the mayor has the right to use these vehicles.
Absence of Land Ownership
It is important to note that, unlike several other city mayors, Vitali Klitschko has not declared any land plots as his property. This is another interesting aspect that distinguishes his asset status from other mayors of Ukrainian cities.
Data on the registration and asset status of the Kyiv mayor were published as part of an analysis of the declarations of leaders of Ukrainian cities.
