International Reaction to the Shelling of Kyiv

Andriy Yermak thanked his European colleagues for their support and condolences following yet another Russian shelling of the Ukrainian capital. He noted that as a result of the attack, 31 people have already died, including five children. Yermak emphasized that Russia continues its terror against the civilian population, and the international community must strengthen its collective response to these crimes.

“There are already 31 dead, including five children. Russia continues its terror against peaceful people. We must strengthen our collective response.”

According to the head of the President’s Office, the participants in the meeting confirmed positive signals from the White House regarding further decisive actions against Russia. Key topics included the introduction of new sanctions on Russian oil, as well as the implementation of secondary tariffs after the 10-day period set by US President Donald Trump.

Preparation for the Strategic Ukraine–US Agreement

During the discussion, the parties focused on preparing a “historic bilateral agreement” between Ukraine and the United States, which includes not only security guarantees but also financial support from European partners. The status of the negotiation process regarding the opening of the first cluster on Ukraine’s path to European Union integration was also updated. Yermak emphasized the importance of continuing personal consultations at the adviser level in the near future.

Additionally, US President Donald Trump recently issued sharp criticism of Russia’s actions following another attack on Kyiv, calling them “disgusting” and promising new sanctions against Moscow. On July 14, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Donald Trump announced plans to provide Ukraine with billions of dollars worth of weapons, which NATO will procure for this purpose. Among the priority military assistance are Patriot air defense systems.
