Preparation for Zelensky and Trump’s Negotiations

The parties discussed the preparation process for the planned meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. leader Donald Trump. Special attention was given to the structure of the upcoming negotiations, the formation of the agenda, and the identification of key topics for discussion. According to Yermak, the American side confirmed its unwavering support for the ceasefire issue.

“We discussed the preparation for the upcoming meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. leader Donald Trump. We focused on the structure of the meeting, the agenda, and key issues for discussion. The U.S. reaffirms its unwavering support for the ceasefire issue.”

Humanitarian Cooperation and Security Initiatives

Separately, during the conversation, the humanitarian aspect of cooperation was raised, particularly the issues of prisoner exchanges and the return of children illegally taken by the Russian Federation. Andriy Yermak emphasized that significant progress in the matter of returning children to Kyiv has not yet been achieved, and Ukraine is counting on additional support from the U.S.

The Head of the Office of the President stressed that prisoner exchanges remain an important outcome of negotiations with the Russian delegation in Istanbul; however, this is not enough to end the war, as Russia continues to block the peace process.

Yermak added that Ukraine is preparing news regarding the strengthening of air defense and interceptor drones, as the war creates new challenges that the country is ready to adapt to.

As of now, Marco Rubio and the U.S. Department of State have not officially commented on the results of this conversation.

President Volodymyr Zelensky previously announced a meeting with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit, which will take place in The Hague on June 24-25.
