President Volodymyr Zelensky, during the Defense Forum held as part of the NATO summit on June 24, urged Ukraine’s partner countries to closely monitor that enterprises from NATO member states do not assist Russia or its allies in supplying components for military equipment.

Dependence of Russian Weapons on Foreign Parts
“No significant Russian weapon today is produced without components, equipment, or materials from abroad – unfortunately, sometimes even from Europe or NATO countries. This must stop. Such components are present in every Russian missile, in most drones, and in military equipment,” said Zelensky.
The President emphasized that modern Russian missiles, drones, and other military equipment regularly reveal parts manufactured outside the Russian Federation, particularly in European and NATO countries. He called for an end to such practices and for strengthened control over the export of components, stressing the need to limit any schemes that allow Moscow to acquire critically important technologies.
Sanctions and the Need for Their Strengthening
Zelensky also mentioned the recent attack by Russia on the Dnipropetrovsk region, emphasizing that the Russian Federation is unable to independently produce ballistic missiles and hundreds of types of weapons without imported components, equipment, and expert support. The President called on the international community to further strengthen sanctions pressure to prevent the supply of Western technologies to the Russian Federation.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, in just one week in January, Russia used over 630 strike drones, about 740 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 50 different types of missiles against Ukraine. Over 50,000 sanctioned parts from various countries were found in these types of weapons.
Since the onset of the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, the United States and other Western countries have imposed numerous sanctions against the Russian Federation aimed at complicating Moscow’s access to modern technologies. However, Russia still finds ways to circumvent these restrictions and continues to obtain foreign components used in weapon production. Experts regularly find Western-made parts in Russian missiles and drones.
