Coordination with International Partners

“Friedrich shared details about his diplomatic contacts. We discussed in detail the negotiation process to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and our communication with the American side. I thank you for your principled position: Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle on the path to peace”

Zelensky noted that he is preparing to hold new contacts with partners in a broader format, aiming to align positions and develop joint actions to achieve peace. According to him, intensive bilateral work between Ukraine and Germany is expected next month.

Trilateral Negotiations and Prisoner Exchange

Currently, the German side has not officially commented on the details of the conversation. The talks took place ahead of a video conference scheduled for April 1 between Kyiv and American representatives, which is expected to be an important link in the negotiations regarding the end of the war.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he does not consider the trilateral format of negotiations between Ukraine, the USA, and Russia to be unproductive or blocked. Several rounds of such negotiations have already taken place in January and February of this year, but no official information has been released regarding specific achievements. It is known that during the meeting on February 5, an agreement was reached on the exchange of prisoners of war – this was the first such exchange in the last five months.

Another trilateral meeting, which was supposed to take place in early March in Abu Dhabi, was postponed due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. The date for the rescheduled negotiations has not yet been determined.
