UK Sanctions and Expectations for New Meetings
The press service of the UK Prime Minister confirmed the dialogue, noting that Keir Starmer emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to weakening Putin’s military potential. According to Downing Street, the UK continues to intensify economic pressure on Russia through a new sanctions package that was announced the day before. In particular, these measures are expected to lead to a reduction in the volume of Russian oil on the global market and further weaken the economy of the Russian Federation.
London also confirmed that a new meeting between representatives of the two countries is expected soon. Earlier, Zelensky expressed hope that this week Kyiv and London would be able to discuss new sanctions against the Russian Federation. It is also worth noting that recently the UK allowed the import of diesel and aviation fuel produced from Russian oil in third countries.
