Details of the Zelensky-Trump Negotiations
On September 23, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Donald Trump in New York during the UN General Assembly session. During a joint press conference, Zelensky expressed gratitude to Trump and emphasized the importance of his awareness of the situation on the front lines. According to the Ukrainian president, he shared detailed information about the events on the battlefield with his American counterpart and discussed the demoralization of Russian troops.
“I am very grateful to Trump. I cannot share details right now. Trump possesses very important information regarding the situation on the front lines. I provided Trump with information about the current situation on the battlefield: I wanted him to understand and feel what we have been experiencing. We talked about the demoralization of Russian soldiers,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the press conference.
Zelensky also stressed that Putin will seek weaknesses not only in Ukraine but also among European and NATO countries. According to him, the Russian leader may employ various methods, including cyberattacks and the use of long-range drones, to test the readiness of European states to respond to threats.
Trump on Ukraine’s Prospects and the Role of the West
U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that Ukraine is effectively resisting Russian aggression, despite predictions of a quick end to the war. According to Trump, the Russian economy is in a difficult position, while Ukraine is demonstrating remarkable resilience and the ability to stop a powerful enemy army.
“Ukraine is currently doing very well in its task of stopping this powerful army. It is a very complicated situation because everyone thought the war would end in three days, but thanks to the Ukrainian military and the involvement of everyone, it is still ongoing. This is not the best situation for Russia. They hoped for a quick resolution,” said Donald Trump.
In response to journalists’ questions, Trump agreed that NATO countries have the right to shoot down Russian planes if they violate their airspace.
On the social network Truth Social, Donald Trump expressed confidence that Ukraine will be able to reclaim its territories within the borders that existed before 1991. He highlighted the role of financial and military support from the European Union and NATO in achieving this goal.

“After I familiarized myself with the situation in the military and economic spheres of Ukraine and Russia and fully understood it, as well as saw the economic difficulties it causes in Russia, I believe that Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is capable of fighting and reclaiming all its territory within its original borders. With time, patience, and financial support from Europe and, in particular, NATO, the restoration of the original borders from which this war began is entirely possible. Why not?” said Donald Trump in his post.
During the meeting, it was also noted that Donald Trump, in Zelensky’s opinion, is a politician capable of fundamentally changing the situation regarding the war in Ukraine.
