Statements from the Leaders of France and Ukraine
Upon arrival, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to journalists alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. The French leader confirmed Paris’s readiness to provide political support for reaching agreements that could lead to the end of the war.
“We, Europeans, are ready to ensure the conditions for stable peace in Ukraine. Now it all depends on Russia,” he stated.
In turn, Zelensky thanked France for its leadership in international initiatives supporting the Ukrainian state. The president noted that currently, France and other countries are striving to bring peace in Ukraine as close as possible. However, according to him, there are currently no signals from Russia regarding a desire to end the war. Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence that a close alliance of European states, as well as cooperation between Europe and the United States, would strengthen pressure on the Russian Federation to transition to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
