“There are still dozens of drones in our sky. Kyiv was hit twice. First ballistic missiles, then in the morning – drones. All services are on site, helping people. As of now, there are 7 reported injuries, including 4 children. Unfortunately, there are fatalities – a woman and her son. My condolences to the family and friends.”
Zelensky reported that several regions were affected by the nighttime attacks, including Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk. He also noted that Russian troops used a ballistic missile against the village of Velyka Chernechchyna in the Sumy community, and later began using aerial bombs in the area, even during rescue operations.
Calls for Strengthening Sanctions for Peace
The head of state emphasized that only by increasing pressure on Russia and strengthening sanctions can diplomacy be fostered. He stressed that all measures to deprive the aggressor of resources for war must be implemented to achieve lasting peace.
Zelensky thanked international partners for their support and assistance in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, and also emphasized that Russia “must be held accountable” for its crimes. Earlier, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко, reported that six people were injured in the drone attack in Kyiv, including four children, while two others were killed, and one person was injured during the ballistic missile attack.
