Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting dedicated to the results of negotiations with the Russian Federation. During the meeting, he reported on key agreements and the next steps in the dialogue between the countries.

Details of the Negotiation Process

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov reported to the president on the implementation of agreements reached during the second meeting with the Russian side in Istanbul. According to Umerov, a new round of negotiations is expected soon.

Purpose of the Negotiations and the New Delegation

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine aims for the most effective work to free prisoners, return illegally taken children, and prepare for a future meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the Russian Federation to end the war. According to him, the state’s position remains open and clear, as Russia is responsible for the start of the armed conflict and must end it.

Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak informed about the coordination of diplomatic activities with partners in Europe and the United States. To continue the negotiation process, the president instructed to form a new Ukrainian delegation for dialogue with the Russian side, which will be led by Rustem Umerov. The delegation will also include representatives from Ukrainian intelligence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the President’s Office.

As Zelensky reported, the next round of negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23. Details regarding the upcoming meeting are not disclosed for security and negotiation effectiveness reasons.
