Meeting in Berlin: Key Agenda Items
As Zelensky noted, there are still topics he has not been able to discuss with the Chancellor due to the lack of extended personal meetings. The President emphasized that this visit will allow them to address the details, particularly regarding the use of long-range systems.
“We have things that we couldn’t discuss because we didn’t have such a long one-on-one format. And we agreed that the moment would come when I would visit Berlin, and we would talk. Among all the questions are those you mentioned (the issue of using long-range weapons – ed.), but I haven’t heard any changes regarding the signals. I will probably be able to respond to something after the meeting,” he told reporters.
International Position on Restrictions on Long-Range Weapons
On May 28, Zelensky will head to Germany, where he will meet with Merz among other engagements. Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States have lifted restrictions on the range of weapons being supplied to Ukraine. According to him, this allows Ukraine to defend itself, including using weapons against military targets on Russian territory.
Merz also clarified that the decision to lift these restrictions was made several months ago, and Ukraine now has the right to use such weapons according to its own defense needs.
