Appointment of the New Commander
Changes in the leadership of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine occurred after Mykola Oleshchuk was dismissed from this position on August 30, 2024. Since then, Kryvonozhko has held the position of acting commander and has now officially taken command of this branch of the military.
Expectations from the New Leadership
“Today I appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko as the Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The most important thing is that Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces continue to develop comprehensively and in effective cooperation: the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, our partners’ teams, and professional and concerned experts who wish for Ukraine’s strength and victory,” he wrote on Telegram.
The appointment of the new commander is expected to contribute to the further development of the Air Forces, particularly regarding the interaction between aviation and air defense forces. The authorities emphasize the importance of close cooperation among the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, partners, and experts for effectively strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
