Azerbaijan Allocates $2 Million for Energy Equipment for Ukraine as Humanitarian Aid

Azerbaijan will provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of energy equipment manufactured domestically, amounting to two million US dollars. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Presidential Decree of Azerbaijan on Assistance to Ukraine

According to the published document, the funds amounting to two million US dollars, equivalent in manats, will be allocated to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan from the presidential reserve fund, as provided in the state budget for 2025. These funds are intended for the purchase and shipment of electrical equipment produced in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan for further transfer to Ukraine.

“Allocate funds in the amount of 2.0 (two) million US dollars, equivalent in manats, to the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan from the presidential reserve fund of Azerbaijan, as provided in the state budget for 2025, for the purchase and shipment of electrical equipment produced in the Republic of Azerbaijan, for the purpose of providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.”

Response to Russian Attacks and Further Cooperation

On the eve of signing the decree, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a phone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. During their communication, they jointly condemned the targeted airstrikes by Russia on the oil depot of the Azerbaijani company SOCAR, located in Ukraine.

Furthermore, according to Azerbaijani Telegram channels close to President Aliyev’s circle, if Russian strikes on energy facilities related to Azerbaijan in Ukraine continue, official Baku may consider lifting the ban on supplying weapons from its stockpiles to Ukraine.
