Reasons for extending the document submission deadline
According to the CEC, on October 6, a statement was received from Tetyana Chornovol. She indicated the existence of objective reasons that prevent her from submitting the necessary documents within the legally established 20-day period. In particular, Chornovol noted that she is currently serving in the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine and requested to extend the deadline to one year.
“On October 6, a statement was received by the commission from Tetyana Chornovol regarding the existence of reasons that hinder her from submitting the documents necessary for registration as a member of Parliament within the legally established 20-day period, and with a request to extend this deadline to one year due to her military service in the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Official decision and grounds
In accordance with current legislation, the Central Election Commission recognized the reasons cited in the statement as valid. Therefore, the deadline for Tetyana Chornovol to submit documents has been extended until October 6, 2026, inclusive.
It is worth noting that on September 18, the CEC recognized Tetyana Chornovol, who was next in line on the electoral list of the “European Solidarity” party at number 27, as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament following the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on July 21, 2019.
This decision was made after the tragic death on August 30 in Lviv of the member of Parliament from “European Solidarity,” former Speaker Andriy Parubiy.
