On September 18 at 19:00, the National Philharmonic will host a unique concert “Steel. Violet. Fury,” featuring the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyiv Camerata” and the Kyiv Chamber Choir, both of which are winners of the National Rating “Infoboom – Classical Music” for 2024.

Star-Studded Lineup of Performers and a World-Class Conductor
The concert will be conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson — an American-Canadian artist of Ukrainian descent, who leads the “Kyiv Camerata.” Joining the performance will be renowned artists: soprano Suzanna Chakhoyan, mezzo-soprano Irina Petrova, violinist Kyrylo Bondar, as well as the famous piano duo “Kyiv Piano Duo” consisting of Oleksandra Zaitseva and Dmytro Tavantse.
World Premieres and Symbolism in Contemporary Music
The program will feature works by Ukrainian composers: Victoria Poleva, Bohdana Froliak, Oleksandr Rodin, Oleg Bezborodko, Oleksandr Honobolin, and Volodymyr Zahortsev. Special attention will be drawn to two world premieres — the first in the history of Ukrainian music, the Concerto for Piano Four Hands and String Orchestra “Steel. Violet. Fury” by Oleg Bezborodko, written in 2024 specifically for the “Kyiv Piano Duo,” as well as the piece “Sofia” for choir and orchestra by Victoria Poleva.
The title of Bezborodko’s work became the epigraph for the entire evening: according to the author, it encodes the symbols of modern Ukraine — the heroism of the defenders of “Azovstal,” the last poem by the warrior-poet Maksym Kryvtsov, and the fury towards the enemies.
Another significant composition of the evening will be “Adagio” for strings by Oleksandr Honobolin, which symbolizes spiritual strength and memory and has already been performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on the anniversary of the war as a sign of international solidarity with Ukraine.
Equally emotionally powerful will be the performance of “Stabat Mater” by Oleksandr Rodin, featuring the voices of Suzanna Chakhoyan and Irina Petrova.
