During the UN General Assembly meeting on February 24, Czech Foreign Minister Petr Mačínka urged the Russian Federation to openly acknowledge the failure of its strategy regarding Ukraine. Speaking to those present, the Czech diplomat addressed the absent Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, emphasizing that no major power can overcome reality.

Time Works Against Russia, Not in Its Favor
In his speech, Petr Mačínka stressed that history has repeatedly shown that those who believed time was on their side eventually found the opposite to be true. The minister noted that great powers can endure defeat, but not a strategy that lacks a final objective.
“You can temporarily control territory and the narrative, create and manage propaganda, but you cannot control time. And time always reveals who speaks of security and who undermines it,” Mačínka stated.
The Position of the Czech Republic and Assessments by International Experts
The Czech minister emphasized that the moment has come for Russia to recognize the failure of its own plan regarding Ukraine. He highlighted that the true strength of global players is demonstrated not in their ability to ignite military conflicts but in their readiness to resolve them.
Previously, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that the plans of the Russian military leadership for a large-scale summer offensive indicate the Kremlin’s unwillingness to seek peaceful solutions through negotiations in the near future.
