An explosion in an apartment in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv resulted in injuries to four people, including three police officers.

Details of the Incident and Sequence of Events
The emergency occurred in a high-rise building where a 34-year-old resident, motivated by personal animosity, set fire to the door of his neighbor’s apartment located on the floor above. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers detected a suspicious smell of gas in the stairwell. Reacting promptly, the police began evacuating the residents of the building and called emergency services.
“Upon arriving at the scene and identifying the residence where the suspect was hiding, the police smelled gas, so they immediately began evacuating the residents of the high-rise and called emergency services. Subsequently, an explosion occurred in the apartment, injuring three police officers and the perpetrator himself. They were hospitalized with bodily injuries,” the police report states.
Criminal Proceedings and Accountability
After the explosion, investigators, forensic experts, and explosives technicians worked at the scene. Law enforcement initiated criminal proceedings for the intentional infliction of bodily harm to police officers and the deliberate destruction of property. The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison for his actions.
