Personnel Changes in the Diplomatic Corps
Prior to his new appointment, Zelensky dismissed Ihor Brusilo from his position in the President’s Office. It is known that in March 2021, Brusilo became the Deputy Head of the President’s Office. At that time, it was announced that he would be responsible for the work of the Protocol Service, as well as for the substantive content of international visits and events involving the head of state.
His main tasks will include “guiding the work” of the Protocol Service and providing substantive content for international visits and events with the participation of the president.
Ihor Brusilo’s Diplomatic Experience
Before his appointment as Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Ihor Brusilo worked as the Deputy Head of the State Protocol and Ceremonial Department. He has experience working in the Verkhovna Rada, where he dealt with issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation. From 2007 to 2011, he held a diplomatic position at the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy, and in 2012 he returned to work in the president’s protocol.
It is worth noting that in July 2025, President Zelensky appointed Yaroslav Melnyk, who previously represented Ukraine in Italy, as the new ambassador to Belgium.
