Incident at the Deputy’s Reception
On August 7 at 5:00 PM, a meeting was set to take place between the head of the Kyiv City Council’s permanent commission on budget, socio-economic development, and investment activities, Andriy Vitrenko, and residents of the Holosiivskyi district who suffered as a result of a terrorist missile attack from the Russian Federation. However, a group of over thirty men in municipal security uniforms gathered at the entrance to the deputy’s reception area. They blocked access to the premises, threatened Andriy Vitrenko and his team with physical violence, and used video recording, smartphones, radios, and special equipment.
“When I referred to the municipal organization ‘Municipal Security’ as the private army of Vitalii Klitschko, I never imagined they would so quickly demonstrate their loyalty to him through threats of physical violence,” the deputy expressed his outrage.
Vitrenko’s Address and Further Actions
After the incident, Andriy Vitrenko publicly addressed Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko with a statement condemning such methods of pressure and threats as unacceptable. The deputy emphasized that he has no intention of backing down and will actively continue to raise issues of corruption in the capital’s departments and municipal enterprises.
Andriy Vitrenko also announced the preparation of official statements to law enforcement agencies regarding the threats of physical violence, obstruction of deputy activities, and political pressure.
