The Prosecutor’s Office Has Turned to the Court Due to the Inaction of the Kyiv City Administration
The capital’s prosecutor’s office has initiated a lawsuit aimed at obligating the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) to eliminate the spontaneous landfills in the Troieshchyna area. This action was prompted by the prolonged inaction of officials who have failed to fulfill their duties regarding the removal of environmentally hazardous waste.
“The Desnyansky District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv has filed a lawsuit requesting the court to compel the Kyiv City State Administration to take measures to eliminate the unauthorized landfill,” the statement notes.
A Threat to the Environment and Residents’ Health
The prosecutor’s office is particularly concerned about the situation along Pukhivska Street in the Desnyansky District, where construction and household waste has been stored for an extended period. The area of contamination has already exceeded 4.7 hectares. Nearby is Lake Almazne, and the landfill poses a potential danger to the ecosystem of the water body, as harmful substances could enter the water.

The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that the KCSA, as the body responsible for organizing waste removal and eliminating unauthorized landfills in Kyiv, is not taking sufficient measures to comply with legislation in the field of waste management. This inaction leads to a deterioration of the ecological situation and may harm the health of local residents.

The court has already opened proceedings on this prosecutor’s lawsuit. It is worth noting that this is not the first case of litigation regarding the elimination of spontaneous landfills in the capital – previously, the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit concerning the removal of a similar landfill on Melioratyvna Street, which is also under consideration in court.
