A Kyiv man faces up to ten years in prison for attempted revenge by setting a car on fire

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 33-year-old local resident who intentionally set fire to someone else’s car in the Dnipro district of the capital. The incident occurred on Prazhskaya Street at night when the police received a report of a vehicle fire.
Details of the Arson and Police Response
“Recently, at night, the Dnipro police department received a report that a car was on fire on Prazhskaya Street. An investigative team from the district police department and emergency services immediately arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, the police determined that the Toyota car had been set on fire using a plastic bottle filled with a flammable substance, which was ignited and placed under the vehicle,” the police reported.
After the arrival of the operational group and emergency services, it was established that an unknown person had set fire to a Toyota car using a plastic bottle with a flammable liquid.
The joint efforts of operatives and criminal analysis analysts allowed for the quick identification and detention of the suspect. During the investigation, the man explained that he wanted to “take revenge” on the driver of the car, as he was convinced that this vehicle had nearly run him over on one of the city streets recently. However, it later became known that the car belonged to another person.
Classification of the Crime and Possible Punishment
The detained individual has already been notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional destruction or damage to property. If proven guilty in court, the man faces up to ten years in prison.
