In the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a man who intentionally set fire to the door of an apartment in a high-rise building. The incident occurred while the owner of the apartment was away, and it was only thanks to the prompt actions of neighbors that the fire was quickly extinguished.

Details of the Incident

According to the police, at the time of the arson, the 43-year-old owner of the apartment was not at home. Upon returning, the woman learned from her neighbors that they had already managed to extinguish the fire on the door’s casing.

Swift Resolution of the Crime

During the search operations, the police identified the arsonist. He turned out to be a 31-year-old resident of the Obolon district of the capital. Law enforcement officers found that the man decided to set fire to the door as an act of revenge against the apartment owner due to an alleged conflict with his cohabitant.

The suspect is currently in custody. For his actions, he faces up to ten years of imprisonment under the current legislation of Ukraine.
